Mind Map Generation: a Tokeny case study
Transform course content or book outlines into clearly structured mind maps. Follow the recorded task, execution screenshots, actual files and verification notes.

Prepare the inputs
Create a separate workspace in Tokeny, download and unpack the sample inputs, then select a model that supports tools. The sample uses synthetic data or the public sources named in the article.

Send the task to Tokeny
The original task was executed in Chinese. Copying these instructions reproduces the same task; the results below include an English report.
交付文件:mindmap.svg、mindmap.html、mindmap.mmd。
The recorded run used an isolated demonstration workspace. Review the commands and file paths before approving operations in your own workspace.
What actually ran
The task was submitted through the Tokeny input box. An online model read the inputs and executed tools. This run covers the local sample task and its actual files. Results and checks are recorded below.
Results and verification
Input
Read outline.md from the workspace. The course outline is “Data Literacy” with 4 first-level branches Each branch contains 2 leaf nodes, for 8 leaves in total.
Processing Steps
- Parsed the root, first-level headings, and second-level headings from the original Markdown outline.
- Positioned the four first-level branches in the upper-left, upper-right, lower-left, and lower-right areas around the root; each branch connects to two leaves.
- Generated a fixed-viewBox SVG, a responsive HTML page with an embedded SVG, and Mermaid mindmap source.
- Added
width: 100%,viewBox, andoverflow-x: hiddento the HTML layout for narrow screens.
Actual Results
mindmap.svg: generated with the root, 4 main branches, and 8 leaf nodes.mindmap.html: generated as a directly openable responsive diagram with a branch legend.mindmap.mmd: generated with the complete Mermaid parent-child hierarchy.- Main branch count: 4.
- Leaf node count: 8.
- Every input node is mapped; no branch was omitted.
Checks
- Compared the 1 root, 4 second-level headings, and 8 third-level headings against
outline.md. - Checked the SVG and HTML
viewBox, node coordinates, and connectors; nodes have separate space and connectors do not cross node labels. - Checked the HTML CSS: the page and SVG use fluid width, without a fixed page width dependency at a 390px viewport.
- Opened the HTML through a browser on
127.0.0.1; page loading succeeded and the accessibility tree identified the title, diagram, and 4 main branches. - Checked the Mermaid source: one root, four first-level indented nodes, and two leaves under each first-level node.
Limitations
- The browser extension's 390px iframe script check timed out, so pixel-level horizontal-overflow measurement was not completed. Only CSS static inspection and page-load verification were completed; mobile overflow cannot be claimed as pixel-verified.
- No Mermaid rendering engine was used. Mermaid's final visual theme is renderer-dependent; the source hierarchy itself was checked. SVG/HTML glyph metrics depend on the installed CJK font.
- Mermaid's final visual theme is renderer-dependent; the source hierarchy itself was checked.
